Inquiries allow us to learn all about those who have expressed interest in visiting South Dakota, from their planned travel month to their interests. By using this information, the Department of Tourism is better able to communicate with travelers.
The graph below illustrates the number of domestic inquiries through September. The first graph illustrates the number of leads each month compared to 2010. The second graph shows the top states that inquiried YTD through September. Minnesota continues to be the top state for inquiries, accounting for 10.4% of all leads. The top ten states account for 49% of all leads generated in 2011. There were 5,834 total leads for the month of May. Inquiries were up 31.8% in September over September 2010.
