In early 2023, Governor Noem and the South Dakota Legislature provided funding for another DMO Marketing Assistance Program through the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) as part of the American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA). Per ARPA, these funds are intended to help reinvigorate and stimulate tourism in your city and region. Funds will be dispersed by Travel South Dakota over a four-year period (2023-2026).
In the program toolkit, you will find more information about the DMO Marketing Assistance Program. The FAQ section (pages 4-7) answers questions about who is eligible for these funds, how grant award amounts will be determined, guidelines for what are and are not eligible expenditures, and, finally, deadlines for applying for and spending the funds.
Before applying, consider:
- Is your DMO able to use these funds solely for the purpose of marketing?
- Can you show that the amount you are requesting is proportional to the negative impact or harm experienced due to the COVID pandemic?
- Do you have a Unique Entity ID with the U.S. Treasury?
Are you able to submit your application by the April 28, 2023, deadline?
