South Dakota isn’t just the 605 — it’s the 605. As one of only 12 states with a single area code, “605” has grown from a number into a symbol of pride, unity, and identity. In 2024, Travel South Dakota reimagined 605 Day as Forever 605 Day — a celebration that not only honors our unique area code, but also inspires residents and visitors alike to care for our state through responsible, respectful travel.

Join us in celebrating Forever 605 Day on Thursday, June 5 (6/05), 2025 and help us make Forever 605 Day one of the most celebrated holidays in our state!

Ways to Celebrate and Get Involved

ORGANIZE COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES AND SUPPORT LOCAL
Cities, CVBs, businesses, restaurants, and attractions are encouraged to bring #Forever605 to life by hosting activities that highlight the best of South Dakota:

• Team up with local businesses to organize a community cleanup
• Host a hike at one of your community’s hidden gems
• Promote local dining and shopping with Forever 605 Day giveaways, themed discounts, or even a neighborhood block party
   

SHOW YOUR SUPPORT
The Toolkit & Collateral Request Form offers a variety of free items. Choose from the full Forever 605 Toolkit along with additional stickers, posters, pledge cards and rack cards to decorate your space and show your support. Place your order by completing the Forever 605 Collateral Order Form. (Quantities are limited. Delivery may take up to 3 weeks.)
 

WEAR YOUR PRIDE
Outfit your team or group in official Forever 605 gear and wear your state pride proudly on June 5. View designs and purchase clothing and other items through our online store. The new store is currently in the works and will be launched summer 2025.
