PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Tourism is proud to announce that Custer State Park and Badlands National Park have been recognized in TripSavvy’s 2021 Editors’ Choice Awards.

The publication named Custer State Park as a winner for their “Best for a Bucket List” category, which recognizes landmarks and attractions that must be seen to be believed.

Badlands National Park was recognized in the “Best for Outdoor Enthusiasts” category, which showcases the best places, guides and hotels for runners, hikers, bikers, campers and more.

These awards are shared with TripSavvy’s 10 million-plus readers.

“Custer State Park and Badlands National Park continue putting South Dakota on the map in a big way,” said James Hagen, Secretary of the Department of Tourism. “TripSavvy’s recognition of these two incredible parks provides stopping power when visitors are choosing from thousands of destinations for their vacation.”

TripSavvy’s Editors’ Choice Awards showcase the best in travel, tourism and hospitality, with only approximately 1,000 venues making the cut this year. The publication’s editors use a combination of data and real human vetting to hand-select winners from a pool of more than 60,000 businesses and destinations around the globe.

The South Dakota Department of Tourism is comprised of Tourism and the South Dakota Arts Council. The Department is led by Secretary James D. Hagen.
