U.S. Travel releases health and safety guidance to tourism industry

May 5, 2020

Dear Tourism Partners,

Last week, we shared with you a new resource page on SDVisit.com outlining health, cleaning and sanitizing tips for tourism businesses. You can access these great tips and resources here.

The U.S. Travel Association has now released a new plan called “Travel in the New Normal” which provides health-focused travel guidance for travel and tourism businesses across all segments of travel. The plan was authored by a task force of physicians and travel leaders, including entities like the American Hotel and Lodging Association, the American Gaming Association, Brand USA, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, and the National Restaurant Association, to name a few.

As the U.S. Travel Association shared about the plan, “…we have come together – hotels, resorts, airports, airlines, cruise lines, attractions, restaurants, rental cars, meeting event venues and producers, destinations, tour operators and more to collectively agree upon industry-wide guidance that protect the health and safety of travelers in this new era of normal…The industry guidance is designed to comply with the White House and CDC guidelines for “Opening Up America Again” and will be distributed and implemented across the industry to provide all travel businesses with a set of health and safety guidance which they may expand upon.”

The plan is easy to read and digest.  Please take 10 minutes out of your day to read through it and see how its recommendations can best protect you, your employees, and the traveling public.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have.

We wish you all good health and safety. Happy National Travel and Tourism Week!

All our best,
Jim and Team
