South Dakota Passports Program

One of Travel South Dakota's goals is to spread travelers more completely around the state and to introduce visitors to the many "hidden gems'" and out-of-the-way places that South Dakota has to offer. The South Dakota Passports Program makes it easy for visitors and locals to discover unique places, businesses, and experiences across the state — all through a free, mobile-friendly pass.

Current Passports

As of May 2026, there are 11 different passports highlighting more than 500 South Dakota locations. Last year was the third full year of the program and the 10 passports running in 2025 had strong results, including 17,664 total signups and 55,759 total check-ins. Involvement & Promotion

Travel South Dakota welcomes and encourages the industry to be a part of the South Dakota Passports. Whether you are an entity that would like to be included in the current or future passports or you just want to help get the word out about this fun and interactive program, we offer options for everyone.

Want to Get Involved?

Want to have your business, attraction, event or location featured in a South Dakota Passport? Each year, Travel South Dakota updates the program with new destinations and experiences. If you own or know of a hidden gem that should be included, we’d love to hear from you! Contact Alexa Dorn to start the process.

In addition, the passports are also a valuable staff training tool. Whether you work at an attraction, lodging property, restaurant, retail shop or visitor center, the passports help build destination knowledge and provide dozens of options to explore more in the state (and earn points for free swag).
